That’s Music New to My Ears!

You only get one chance to make a great first impression. Or something like that. This area of You Make My World Rock is dedicated to music I am consciously hearing for the first time. I’ll mostly be focusing on current, emerging artists, though I hold the right to throwback to more established musicians I haven’t listened to in the past or who may be obscure to the general public.

If you are a music label representative or an artist with a new release, please feel free to contact me to review your music. My preferred genres are rock, pop rock, alternative, Americana, and folk, but I do listen to other types, especially if they weave these styles into the music.

I am inclined to only post reviews where I can find something positive to say, because this is You Make My World Rock, not You Make My Ears Bleed From the Awfulness of the Sound You Made. I reserve the right to listen to any music and remain silent. I can’t say that everything I pick for this section will turn out to be amazing, but I can say I will give an honest opinion.

Sharing some new music and artists with you will be an absolute pleasure! The music landscape has changed so dramatically in the last years. Through streaming radio stations on the Internet, voice-controlled smart speakers, YouTube, Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, satellite radio, and the good old airwaves, etc., we now have access to more content than ever. With the barriers to music production having been significantly lowered by reduced costs for in-home recording and the ability to DIY music videos for YouTube, we exist in an incredible time to become immersed in sonic bliss from creative types all over the globe.

Put another dime in the jukebox,
Play a song for me,
Some of that rock ‘n’ roll music,
Jammin’ good,
So hard I broke a string,
Sing us a song tonight,
I hope you don’t mind,
Sweet, sweet music,
Dance with me,
‘Cause you make my world rock.
